Please join us at our Riverside County NOW Zoom meeting, Thursday,March 25, 2021, at 6:30 pm. Our guest speakers will be Congressional Candidate Bruno Amato, and Mandy Hyde.  Congressional Candidate Bruno Amatois is running against Kevin McCarthy in Congressional District 23.  Mandy Hyde is with the Junior League that helps Moms and their babies. Their need for diapers is their main focus during these urgent times.

February 25, 2021 Zoom Meeting

Please join us at our Riverside County NOW Zoom meeting, Thursday,February 25, 2021, at 6:30 pm. Our guest speakers will be Sarah Wood, Social Media Director of VoteVets.org and Antwanisha Williamson, 17 year veteran and former Logistics Specialist at USS Carl Vinson.  Sarah will discuss her role as Media Director and the position of VoteVets.org in our political climate.  VoteVets.org took a political stance against Trumpisim with numerous veterans speaking out.  Navy Veteran Antwanisha Williamson will speak about her experience as a female in the military. She’ll share her ups and downs as gender discrimination still exists.  Antwanisha is also a graduate of Stanford University, and a doctoral student. This will be a very inspiring meeting!

July 23rd Zoom Meeting

We hope you will join us at our July 23rd Zoom meeting at 7:00 pm in the comfort of your home.  Our guest speaker will be Jenn Carson discussing “Tools to Persist: Coping with Stress During a Pandemic”.  Jenn Carson has been on CNN, NPR, the Today Show, Marie Claire Magazine and Huffington Post.  Jenn shared her journey as a 9 year old suicidal daughter of a convicted murderer, to a mental health advocate who runs a county-wide suicidal hotline.  Jenn has a degree from Baylor University and a M.A. in Counseling from George Washington University. She also serves on the board of Women’s March CA and is the Co-Chair of Women’s March Inland Empire.

          ISTGI Support The Girls (ISTG) organization

Our guest speaker will be from the I Support The Girls (ISTG) organization.  The mission of this organization is to collect and distribute menstrual hygiene products and bras for women experiencing poverty or distress so they can stand with dignity. Many are homeless and victims of domestic violence. In response to guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic, Riverside County NOW General Membership meetings will be held via Zoom until advised otherwise by the CDC.

Dr. W Long from Option House has been invited to tell us what the needs of the domestic shelter are!  Also, we want to share info on making donations to organizations in need. The next Riverside County NOW membership meeting will be held at: The Lighthouse Restaurant (located in Canyon Lake Lodge), 22200 Canyon Club Drive, Canyon Lake, on Thursday, February 27th  at 6:00 pm.  We meet downstairs in the Sunset Beach Room (take elevator)!  Join us the first half hour to order dinner and to socialize. The meeting starts promptly at 6:30 pm.

Our guest Speakers are: Karen Borja, Director of Planned Parenthood and Cindy Bustos, from Temecula Moms Demand Action for Gun Reform.  Also, Candidate Meg E’amato for City Council Corona Seat #3 will speak about her campaign.

PINK GIRL

The next Riverside County NOW membership meeting will be held at: The Lighthouse Restaurant (located in Canyon Lake Lodge), 22200 Canyon Club Drive, Canyon Lake, on Thursday, October 23rd at 6:00 pm.  We meet downstairs in the Sunset Beach Room-take elevator!  It’s been awhile since we’ve been together, so join us the first half hour to order our dinner, socialize and celebrate our victory being named Chapter of the Year for 2019!

Our main Guest Speaker is Sarah Jackle. Sarah is the Director of Field Team 6 and our new California National Organization for Women Director of GOTV. We are humbled and grateful that she will be with us as she’s coming from Santa Monica. We will hear her vision and platform as she heads our GOTV efforts! I believe we’re the first chapter she will be visiting and is really looking forward being with us.

In addition, other guest speakers include Candidate Courtney Sheehan who is running for Riverside County Board of Supervisors District 3. Courtney is a veteran from the Marine Corp, wife and mommy to Izzy. Also, Candidate Melissa Bourbonnais who is running for Board of Supervisors District 1 will address the audience. Melissa is also a Correctional Deputy & Adjunct Professor in Political Science.

We will be planning our goals for this year and important dates for conference.

September Meeting

The next Riverside County NOW membership meeting will be held at our new venue: The Lighthouse Restaurant (located in Canyon Lake Lodge), 22200 Canyon Club Drive, Canyon Lake, on Thursday, September 26th at 6:00 pm.

Our guest speakers will be Jennaya Dunlap, from Inland Coalition for Immigration Justice.  Jennaya will discuss the latest updates and how we can assist.  Also,
Executive Director/CEO Inland Region Equality Network & on San Bernadino School Board, Abigail Rosalis Medina, will speak about a potential new Detention Center being built in her area. Abigail is also a Candidate for CA Senate District #23.  Joy Silver, RCDP Fundrasing Chair will be speaking on JFK Event. RC NOW will be a sponsor at this event as well as purchasing two tables.  Join us for another impactful meeting!!

We will be collecting blankets and clothing for immigrants at the border.  Please bring items to donate to the meeting and give them to Jeanette Collins.

Jenn has an undergraduate degree from Baylor University and an M. A. from George Washington University. Jenn is Secretary of CA Women’s March which represents 1 million marchers, 150 elected leaders and 12 chapters! She is also President of the Inland Empire Women’s March.
Jenn is also a mental health professional in Riverside.
